Dr. Andrew Wakefield, MB, BS, FRCS, FRCPath, was educated as an academic gastroenterologist who earned his medical degree from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, in 1981. Specializing in gastrointestinal surgery with a focus on inflammatory bowel disease, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1985 and the Royal College of Pathologists in 2001. Dr. Wakefield has published scientific works and received a Wellcome Trust Traveling Fellowship in 1996 to study small-intestinal transplantation in Toronto. Dr. Wakefield has published books and has been director, writer, and producer for a variety of documentary movies.
